“Cloudy Day color challenge”

Starting to stretch out my color sense a bit more.  Realizing I need to recognize and use different color harmonies in different plein air situations.   Up until now, I tend to paint a little too ‘hot’, which is fine on a sunny day and bright blue skies and warm warm greens.   But, am a like a lost puppy when painting on cloudy days.  So, trying to come up with a harmony that works for an overcast day, which we have a lot where I live!!!   Doing some quick and dirty little studies.  This is the first one.  Based on looking at a photo of a work by Schmid.  Surprisingly in this start, lots of cadmium red in the mixtures!   Anyway, this is just a quick and dirty color study.   Nothing finessed here!!!!
